Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Prevention: Training - Annual Report

Training Requirements

Cal/OSHA requires initial and annual training for employees who are potentially exposed to bloodborne pathogens as part of their job duties.

CY 2023 Update

Bloodborne pathogen exposure prevention (BBP) training is assigned using CSU Learn, although instructor-led training is available for certain groups.

  • Student Health Services oversees compliance with their training for this program. At the time of this report, 89% of SHS employees are current in their BBP training.
  • University Police have their own version of the BBP training.  Towards the end of 2023, 95% of UPD employees were current in their BBP training.
  • In the last few years, the Biology dept did not offer a Hematology course. When this course is offered again, BBP training will be assigned to relevant personnel.
  • Select individuals in the Facilities group that have the potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens as part of their work received their training as in-person instructor-led training.
