Training Requirements
The California Health and Safety Code (§25505 (a)(4)) requires entities subject to the Hazardous Materials Business Plan (HMBP) requirement, to provide training for all appropriate employees in safety procedures in the event of a release or threatened release of a hazardous material.
Initial and annual training on these procedures is required.
SFSU provides “Responding To Chemical Releases” training in CSU Learn and Canvas (for those who cannot access CSU Learn) and assigns it to personnel who handle, generate, or manage hazardous materials.
CY 2023 Update
In CY 2023, 44% of the employees assigned the training or the refresher completed it and are current.
