RESOURCES
The EH&S department currently has 5 staff members: a director, and 4 senior EH&S specialists. This is down 50% from a previous staff of 10 prior to Covid.
Growing EH&S regulatory requirements and the construction of new buildings, (Marcus Hall, Manzanita Square, the new Science building, and West Campus Green) puts additional pressure on already stretched EH&S resources.
Existing staff strives to “work smarter” to make up for the reduction in personnel by networking, professional development, and collaborating with other CSU EH&S departments.
The department is also supported by a small team of student aides that help maintain critical programs and regulatory inspection requirements.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
EH&S staff continues to pursue professional development to build skills and cross train, adding advanced degrees and professional certifications along the way, while empowering our small staff to provide backup coverage for one another during times away from work for vacation or sick leave.
