Training Requirements
The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70E standard defines safety procedures related to arc flash hazards.
Although NFPA 70E is not incorporated into CalOSHA regulations directly, the lack of proper precautions against arc flash hazards can be cited under CalOSHA's Injury Illness Prevention Program.
NFPA 70E requires arc flash training initially and every 3 years thereafter.
CY 2023 Update
