Program Description
Cal/OSHA’s Hearing Conservation standard defines requirements to protect employees against occupational hearing loss.
Areas that produce significant noise levels are identified and labeled.
Employees who work in high noise areas are enrolled in a hearing conservation program that includes annual training on the proper use of hearing protection, and annual audiometric (hearing) tests.
SFSU's EH&S Department sets the threshold for inclusion in the SFSU Hearing Conservation program at half the exposure level that CalOSHA requires.
Wherever possible SFSU endeavors to minimize noise issues.
