Particularly Hazardous Substances

Particularly Hazardous Substances (PHS) are chemicals defined by the OSHA Laboratory Standard (29 CFR 1910.1450) as requiring specialized safety protocols due to the unique, severe health risks they pose. Under OSHA, PHS are broken into three primary hazard categories: select carcinogens, reproductive toxins, and substances with high acute toxicity.
